Ambrosia refers to streaking that is caused by intrusion of the ambrosia beetle, which bores into the tree, and with it bring fungus that discolors the wood. We refer to this particular selection of blanks as "ultimate" due to the large amount of figure/streaking found in them. It is fairly easy to work with both hand and machine tools, though maple has a tendency to burn when being machined with high-speed cutters such as in a router. It turns, glues, and finishes well. Common uses include veneer, paper (pulpwood), boxes, crates/pallets, musical instruments, turned objects, and other small specialty wood items. These blanks are green/undried and are fully sealed with wax. 8" x 4" Round Bowl Turning Blank.
